An emblematic building in the centre of Zaragoza that has a degree of architectural cataloguing of its façades, as well as its location, must respect the BIC complex of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Portillo to which it belongs.
Given the degree of cataloguing of the existing building, the project proposes the demolition of the current residential construction, respecting its facades.
The concept of the proposal is the creation of a staggered volume, starting from the fourth floor, which is set back towards theinterior of the plot, through terraced spaces, partially enclosed, representing this set a finish, or roof, of the existing building, but of a light character. The new proposed volume, therefore, will have an external projection from the fifth floor.
Likewise, the proposed solution generates quality outdoor spaces for the homes by creating larger terraced spaces and views of the Aljafería and the Portillo church.
The distribution of the raised floors respects the double orientation for the whole of the dwellings, presenting as a generalcriterion that the living rooms and kitchens overlook the street and the bedrooms the central interior space, safeguarding the most private areas
